Sen. Bob Casey Leads Dave McCormick in Latest Pennsylvania Senate Polling

Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey (D) is currently ahead of his Republican challenger, Dave McCormick, in recent polling for the upcoming Senate race. According to a new poll from The Philadelphia Inquirer, The New York Times, and Siena College, Casey has garnered 49 percent support from likely voters in Pennsylvania, compared to McCormick’s 40 percent. Another poll conducted by Franklin & Marshall College shows Casey leading with 48 percent support to McCormick’s 39 percent among registered voters.

This Senate race is being closely watched as a critical contest in the 2024 election cycle, particularly because Pennsylvania is a key swing state that could influence control of the Senate. An average of Pennsylvania polls from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ indicates Casey is leading McCormick by 5.8 points.

In related polling, Vice President Kamala Harris is also leading former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. The Inquirer/Times/Siena poll shows Harris with 50 percent support to Trump’s 46 percent, while the Franklin & Marshall poll finds her ahead by 4 points, with 49 percent compared to Trump’s 45 percent.

Currently, Harris leads Trump by an average of 1.1 points in Pennsylvania, with support at 49 percent versus Trump’s 47.9 percent, according to The Hill and Decision Desk HQ.

McCormick’s campaign highlighted in an email to The Hill that other recent polls show a closer race between the two candidates. A Washington Post poll conducted from September 12 to 16 found them tied at 48 percent each, while a CNN poll from September 4 indicated they were both at 46 percent.

The Inquirer/Times/Siena poll was conducted between September 11 and 16, featuring 1,082 likely voters with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points. The Franklin & Marshall poll took place from September 4 to 15, surveying 890 registered voters, with a sample error of plus or minus 4.1 points.
