How Much Can SSI Beneficiaries Expect?
In September, the Social Security Administration announced the average monthly SSI benefit for August, which is currently $698. This amount has fluctuated since January 2024.
The maximum SSI payment for 2024 is set at $943. However, keep in mind that the new Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) will not take effect until December 31, with adjustments reflected in the January payment.
For married couples where both partners qualify, the combined SSI payment can be up to $1,415. Additionally, individuals categorized as “essential persons” may also qualify for SSI payments, but these are lower, valued at $472.
