“PNM Launches Power Pros Program to Train Future Electric Utility Professionals”

PNM has committed $1 million to support the PNM Power Pros program, a partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 611. This initiative aims to train high school students to pursue careers in the electric utility industry.

Currently implemented at ACE Leadership High School in Albuquerque, Silver Consolidated Schools in Silver City, and Tularosa High School in Tularosa, the program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training. PNM President and CEO Don Tarry highlighted that “PNM Power Pros is an innovative, first-of-its-kind program.”

Students who successfully complete the program earn career and technical education credits as well as OSHA 10 certification, enhancing their qualifications for future employment. Looking ahead, PNM plans to expand the Power Pros program to additional high schools across New Mexico, further investing in the next generation of electric utility professionals.
